Why is my drip irrigation not working?
The usual causes are a clogged filter or emitter, a cut or crushed line, a loose fitting, or a missing pressure regulator. Start at the valve and work toward the plants.
How to fix a leaking drip irrigation line
For a hole or split in the tubing, cut out the damaged piece and join it with a proper coupling. A leak at a fitting usually means a loose or cracked connector. Drip repair tape is a temporary fix.
Clogged emitters and filters
Hard water and sediment clog emitters and filters. Cleaning the filter and flushing the end of the line often restores flow. Emitters that stay clogged get replaced.
Drip pressure, regulators and valves
Drip needs low pressure, so a regulator belongs on the zone. A failed regulator or a stuck valve can blow fittings off or starve the line. See our pressure guide.
