The City recommends grouping plants with similar water needs on the same valve and keeping spray off hardscape (City of Clovis), which is much easier to get right before anything goes in the ground.

Planning a bigger Clovis remodel
Large projects fall under Clovis Municipal Code Chapter 6.5: new construction with 500 sq ft or more of landscape, or rehabilitated landscapes of 2,500 sq ft or more, when a permit, plan check, or design review is required.
For plant ideas, the City publishes a list of very low, low, and moderate water-use plants and points residents to the Clovis Botanical Garden (City of Clovis).

Do you handle hardscape and planting in one Clovis project?
Yes. We plan and build patios, walkways, borders, planting, sod, and the irrigation as one project.
Do the Clovis landscape rules apply to my yard?
Chapter 6.5 applies to larger projects that need a permit, plan check, or design review. Small changes usually don’t reach those thresholds. Check with the City if you’re unsure.
Can lighting be added to a new landscape?
Yes. Low-voltage wiring is easiest to run while beds and hardscape are being built, and roofline lighting can be added at any time.
