Irrigation Installation for Fresno homes

A new system in Fresno has less time to work with than many people expect. The City allows outdoor watering three days a week from April through October and one day a week from November through March, and never between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. (City of Fresno). Good design gives every zone enough coverage to keep plants healthy inside those limits.

We plan zones around sun, shade, slope, and the water pressure at your house, then install pipe, valves, heads or drip, and a controller that can be programmed to your assigned days.

Local context

Planning for Fresno soil

The Fresno area is where California’s state soil, the San Joaquin series, was first described in 1900. Its defining feature is a cemented hardpan, typically 20 to 40 inches down, that limits how far roots and water can go (PSSAC). Not every yard sits on it, but where there is hardpan or heavy clay, shorter cycles that let water soak in tend to work better than one long run. We check soil during the site walk.

If the project includes converting front lawn, the City’s Expanded Lawn to Garden Rebate requires drip irrigation with a pressure regulator and filter in the converted area, and City approval before work starts.

Fresno FAQ

Irrigation Installation questions in Fresno

Does a new system in Fresno have to follow the watering schedule?

Yes. Outdoor watering for City of Fresno water customers follows the City schedule, so the controller should be set to your assigned days and outside 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Can parts of a new install qualify for a City of Fresno rebate?

Possibly. As of October 2026 the City lists a rebate of up to $105 for a qualifying WaterSense smart controller and a Lawn to Garden rebate for qualifying front-lawn conversions. Eligibility rules apply, so check the City’s pages before you start.

How long does a new installation take?

It depends on the size of the yard and the number of zones. You’ll get the scope and a timeline with your written estimate.
