Stop the water now
- Controller off. Set the timer to Off. If the flooding stops, the leak only happens while that zone runs.
- Close the irrigation shutoff. If water still runs with the controller off, a valve is stuck open or the always-pressurized main line has broken. Close the shutoff for the sprinkler system.
- Can’t find it? Close the main shutoff for the house.
- Well water? Turn the pump off at its breaker.
- Call. Give us your address and a quick description, and send a photo if you can.
What’s actually broken?
Water that stops when the controller is off: a broken head, a cracked riser or a split zone line. Annoying, but it only leaks during that zone’s run.
Water that keeps running with the controller off: a main-line break or a valve that won’t close. Both run around the clock, so shut off the supply right away.
Next: call ACRE
Once the water is off, call or text (559) 203-7881 with your Parlier address and what you found. We’ll get you on the schedule as fast as we can. Our Fresno location is open Sunday through Thursday 5 AM–9 PM and Friday 5 AM–6 PM, and closed Saturday. We serve Parlier from there, about 19.4 miles away.
Voicemail? Leave the address and a short description and we will call you back as soon as we can. With the supply shut off, the yard is safe until the repair.
Leaks and the rules in Parlier
Parlier’s water-waste rules treat a leak or break left unrepaired as waste, and presume 48 hours after you discover it is a reasonable time to fix it. Stop the water now, then call us.
If one zone keeps running
One zone running nonstop points at that zone’s valve. A bit of sand under the diaphragm, a split diaphragm or a solenoid that sticks will hold it open. Look on top of the valve: if there is a flow-control handle, screwing it all the way down (clockwise) may close it. If there isn’t, or it doesn’t work, close the sprinkler shutoff.
More in our guide: sprinkler valve won’t shut off.
How we fix it
On site we locate the leak, open a small hole right at it, replace the broken pipe or fitting, and pressure-test before we backfill. A valve that sticks gets cleaned, rebuilt or replaced. Every zone runs before we leave. See sprinkler pipe repair in Parlier and valve repair in Parlier.

Parlier water and watering rules
Parlier’s municipal code (Chapter 13.20) prohibits water waste: runoff onto a street, gutter, ditch or drain, and leaks or breaks left unrepaired. It presumes 48 hours after discovery is a reasonable time to fix a leak. We did not find assigned watering days in the code, so call City Hall at (559) 646-3545 for the current rules.

Our work in Parlier
Parlier shares the Fresno area’s semi-arid San Joaquin Valley climate, with long, hot, dry summers, mild winters and about 11 inches of rain a year, so sprinklers carry most of the watering load.
The 2020 census counted 3,853 housing units in Parlier, and about 49.6% of occupied homes are owner-occupied. That works out to about 1,599 housing units per square mile.
The Parlier family came from Springfield, Illinois, to the site in 1876, and the city carries their name.
Wikipedia notes that Parlier has one of California’s highest percentages of Latino residents, many of them seasonal agricultural workers.
