About Sanger
Sanger had 26,617 residents at the 2020 census and sits at about 371 feet above sea level. Incorporated in 1911.
The 2020 census counted 7,787 housing units in Sanger, and about 58.6% of occupied homes are owner-occupied. That works out to about 1,350 housing units per square mile.
Sanger is named for Joseph Sanger Jr., an official of the Pacific Improvement Company, an affiliate of the Southern Pacific Railroad.
In 1949 the U.S. Postal Service designated Sanger the “Nation’s Christmas Tree City.”
The Sanger Depot, built in 1887 next to the Southern Pacific line, became the Sanger Depot Museum in 1977.
At about 371 feet, Sanger shares the Fresno area’s semi-arid San Joaquin Valley climate, with long, hot, dry summers, mild winters and average rainfall of around 11 inches a year.
Setting your sprinkler timer
Set the days first, then the start time. Starting before the morning limit and finishing before it keeps you inside the rules. Check every program on the controller, because leftover days on a second program are the most common way a home waters more than it should.
If a zone puddles or runs onto the street, shorten the run time and add a second start, or have the heads checked. Water on pavement is waste in every city we serve.
Not sure your timer is set right? A free 21-point inspection checks the controller and every zone, and we can program it for Sanger.
