About Sierra Sky Park
Sierra Sky Park was founded in 1946 by William and Doris Smilie and is recognized as the first residential aviation community. The 130-acre layout puts homesites around a runway, with extra-wide streets so residents can taxi their planes from the runway to hangars at their homes. The first house was built in 1952, and there are about 110 homesites.
The airpark is about 7 miles northwest of downtown Fresno, in ZIP 93722, and about 5 miles from our Fresno location.
ZIP: 93722 · Distance: about 5.3 miles from ACRE Fresno, 911 E Lansing Way.
Wide lots and long runs
Homes with hangars sit on larger lots, so sprinkler lines run farther from the valves and zones are bigger. Longer runs lose more pressure, which shows up as weak heads at the far end of a zone. Fixes include right-sizing nozzles, splitting an overloaded zone, or adding a valve.
Keep spray off the streets and taxiways. Heads aimed at pavement waste water and leave a slick surface; adjusting arcs or switching edges to drip keeps it where it belongs.
Weak heads at the end of the line
If the heads nearest the valve are fine and the far ones barely pop up, the zone may have more heads than its line and water supply can carry, or there may be a leak along the run. We measure, check for leaks, then fix it with nozzles, a zone split, or a line repair. See head replacement and pipe repair.
Watering rules in Sierra Sky Park
Watering rules in Sierra Sky Park come from whoever provides your water. Check the provider’s name on your water bill and ask them for their current outdoor schedule. If you are a City of Fresno water customer, the City’s schedule applies: From April 1 to October 31, odd-numbered addresses water Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and even-numbered addresses Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. From November 1 to March 31, odd addresses water Saturday only and even addresses Sunday only. No watering on Mondays, and never between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Once we know your days, we set your controller to match.
