Kerman watering rules and your Hunter system
Kerman’s outdoor watering rules come from the City of Kerman.
In short: odd Tue/Thu/Sat, even Wed/Fri/Sun (Mar 2–Nov 30); two days in winter; never Mondays.
After a Hunter repair we test each zone and can set the controller to match. See the full Kerman watering schedule.
We repair Hunter in Kerman
ACRE repairs Hunter sprinkler and irrigation systems in Kerman: PGP and PGJ rotors, Pro-Spray heads, MP Rotators, PGV valves, and X-Core and Pro-C controllers.
Everything is repaired from our Fresno location; see our national page on Hunter repair for the full list of Hunter problems we fix.
Hunter PGV valve stuck on or leaking in Kerman
A Hunter PGV valve fails like any valve: debris, a worn diaphragm or a failing solenoid. A zone that stays on, will not close or weeps at the valve box can be rebuilt or replaced, and we test the wire back to the controller.
A valve that sticks open runs a zone when the rules say it should be off (odd Tue/Thu/Sat, even Wed/Fri/Sun (Mar 2–Nov 30); two days in winter; never Mondays), and one that will not open leaves a whole zone dry.
Hunter MP Rotator uneven or weak in Kerman
Hunter MP Rotators water slowly and evenly, so a clogged nozzle or low pressure shows up as a dry fan on the lawn. We clean or replace the nozzle, check pressure on the zone and look for a leak upstream.
In Kerman the rules in short are: odd Tue/Thu/Sat, even Wed/Fri/Sun (Mar 2–Nov 30); two days in winter; never Mondays. A cracked or misaimed head puts water where it should not go, and a head that never rises leaves a dry patch until the next watering day.
About Kerman
Kerman shares the Fresno area’s semi-arid San Joaquin Valley climate, with long, hot, dry summers, mild winters and about 11 inches of rain a year, so sprinklers carry most of the watering load.
The 2020 census counted 4,512 housing units in Kerman, and about 58.9% of occupied homes are owner-occupied. That works out to about 1,381 housing units per square mile.
Kerman began around 1891 as “Collis,” a Southern Pacific watering tank and pump on the new Tracy–Fresno line.
The name Kerman was built from the first three letters of the surnames of developers William G. Kerckhoff and Jacob Mansar, who saw a chance to buy water from the new Enterprise Canal, which drew from the Kings River.
Hunter PGP or PGJ rotor not rotating in Kerman
A Hunter PGP or PGJ that will not turn, will not rise or leaks at the top usually has dirt in the head, a worn gear or a worn seal. We repair or replace the rotor and pick a nozzle that fits the zone.
