In Madera, water on pavement is a problem: the City doesn’t allow hosing off driveways, sidewalks, or paved areas, or letting water run into the gutter (City of Madera). New hardscape means the sprinklers next to it should be re-aimed or changed.

For work in the parkway, the City asks residents to contact Underground Service Alert at 1-800-642-2444 first (City of Madera).
Madera’s Stage B handout also bans washing down street gutters and lists $75, $200, and $500 fines for repeat violations, so a patio that drains toward the curb, or sprinklers that wet it, can cause trouble later. We grade new surfaces toward planted areas where we can and re-aim the heads along every new edge before we leave.
